Description

The brand owes its existence to the secession of Panama in Colombia in 1903. The Spanish immigrant José Varelo Bianco founded in Pese the first sugar factory in the Republic of Panama. Jose had two sons who came in 1936 with the idea to start producing rum under the brand Abuela. The company is an offshoot Carribean Spirits produces the Malecon brand.
