Balvenie 12 years The Sweet Toast Of American Oak tells the story of Kelsey McKechnie, Malt Master training at Balvenie. She came up with the idea to let Kentucky virgin oak barrels heavily burn, and these were filled with Balvenie whiskey matured in ex-bourbon casks. The combination of virgin oak ex-bourbon and creates a delicate, yet complex whiskey with notes of sugared candy, coconut and soft vanilla. Further noting gentle influences of malt, citrus, oak, spices and brown sugar.
